St. Bernard Catholic School will be holding their 3rd Annual Rummage Sale Saturday, Sept. 6 in Miles Hall (Elementary Campus) at Henderson & C Streets from 8a-4p. Donations of gently used items are being sought. Call 443-2735 to drop off donations or bring them by Miles Hall Sept 2-4 from 3:30-5:50. Clothing, child car seats or computer equipment can not be accepted..

Finance Corner Last weekend the collection was $4,533 and the collection for the Retired Priests’ Health & Care/Religious Retirement was $1,851. Thank you for your generosity.
Second Collection The second collection today is for The Feast of St. Bernard to support our parish ministries
Stewardship Corner In today’s second reading, St. Paul tells the Romans, “God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.” To what is God calling me today? What gifts are mine to share?
Construction Corner Painting of the retaining wall around St. Bernard Church was completed this week and earthquake-preparedness gas shut-offs were installed.
Leave a Legacy We can’t always see into the future. It is possible we may outlive those we intend to provide for. You can make an additional contingency gift to the parish by stating in your will, “In the event that [name of beneficiary] does not survive, I give, devise and bequeath the deceased beneficiary’s gift to St. Bernard Church, Eureka, CA.” Contact your lawyer on how to make this part of your will.

Women’s CLUB First Meeting

The regular luncheon meeting of the Knights of Columbus will be held at the Ingomar Club at noon on Tuesday, August 19th. The program will be a presentation by Betty Chinn on her work for the poor. Please plan to attend.
History of Worship is this year’s topic when Fr. David Anderson returns for a series of Monday evening talks beginning September 8 at 7 pm in the Pinochi Room of the Parish Hall. Plan to attend these popular and informative lectures.

The Humboldt Catholic Respect Life Committee monthly meeting will be Tuesday, August 19th, at 6 p.m., in St. Bernard Parish Hall. This month our focus will be planning the fall Respect Life Art & Writing Exhibit for Catholic students grades 1 to 8. Individuals and families are welcome at the meeting. Immaculate Heart Radio is now on the air. KIHH on station 1400 AM. The programming varies to address different needs. Evangelical purpose; is to answer the questions for non-Catholics; the devotional purpose offers Mass, the rosary and prayer; inspirational purpose encourages people in their faith. One segment is a call-in show for people who have questions. There will also be broadcasts from the Vatican. Pick up a program guide on the tables in both churches.

If you would like to use the envelope system for your contributions, which is the only way we can keep track of your contributions for your year end deductions, the office for your number.
